Upcycled Ornaments
I am cuckoo for Christmas. It's true. I especially LOVE decorating my Christmas tree. This year I was a little late because of our traveling, but it's finally up. I didn't have a ton of money to go buy a bunch of new ornaments, so I used a bunch of silver ornaments I already had and supplemented them with $15 worth of bulbs from Target. BUT, my favorite part of the tree is the garland that Tim and I made.
I used my circle punch and some old sheet music I bought for $2 at the flea market. We punched out circles and threaded them together. We used 6 garlands on our 7' tree. Each garland ended up being about 5' long. The other touch we used was some old plastic chandelier "crystals" Tim's cousin gave me. He dropped off this old funky chandelier and said, "My wife thought you could make something with this...". I love that people have me pegged like that! ;)
So, the moral of the story is, check your garage! Lots of things can become ornaments...

Jessie | December 10, 2009, 8:59 am | http://samann1121.blogspot.com Oh, I love that garland! I might have to steal that idea for next year. And I really love the extra dimension the long icicles give the tree. -
