Fluff This

Putting a fresh spin on a room can be as easy as changing up your accessories...

According to style blogger Coco+Kelley, Midnight Teal and Mustard are a hot color combination for November. I really love this palette. It reminds me of the ocean and although I rarely decorate in blue shades in my home, her samples don't really show it as being a dominant color...It's more like a splash here and there.

A great way to try out a new color without committing to anything drastic is to try some throw pillows on your sofas. Pillows can get expensive, even at department stores like Target, but there are lots of ways around that.

I checked Etsy for some inexpensive pillows (all under $20) and I found lots to choose from, including this one for $16!

Also, if you are a crafty gal (and I know some of you are!) an idea for pillows would be to skip buying commercial pillows and buy yourself some pillow forms from Hobby Lobby (or your local super crafty emporium). Pillow forms are just pillows made with thin cotton, already stuffed and ready to be slipped inside a covering. They come in all different sizes and have dimensions printed on the packaging. They range from about $7 - $30, depending on the size.

Next, you can purchase fabric from your local sewing shop or quilting store and sew some simple slip covers. If you are REALLY thrifty, you can even keep an eye out for sheets, curtains and tableclothes at thrift stores and yard sales. I am always on the look out for piles of scrap fabric since you never know when a vintage print might be just the thing to brighten up a room!
