Bedroom In Progress
Now that we've been living in our darling little house for a while, my plan to really "settle in" has meant a great deal of rearranging. Our bedroom has been at the bottom of the barrel for redecorating just because nobody really sees that room except us. However, I am starting to realize that we need to have a real sanctuary to relax in at the end of the day. A bare room stacked with laundry is NOT a sanctuary. The image in the bottom left of this collage is the "before" picture. All we really had in the room was the bed and the television. We were lucky enough to have a great set of dressers that Tim inherited from his ex-girlfriend. Normally I'd be reluctant to have all those ex-girlfriend cooties all up in our bedroom, but the dressers are mid-century modern and they look really cool. ;)

I chose the color palette for the room based on a design by Erinn Valencich (that I found on Coco + Kelley)
I just adore the warm greys juxtaposed with the golden yellows and persimmon reds. Of course, like all inspiration pieces, it's a tricky thing to pull off without spending a ton of money, but I worked with my stuff and put together a great room. The main piece I'm still missing is the amazing headboard (the few in the collage up top are from West Elm) that I think I may end up making myself, with Tim's help of course. I'm definitely leaning towards dark charcoal grey, but maybe a warm brown would go nicely with the dressers...
The other thing that is missing is the new WALL COLOR. As you can see in the pictures here, the walls are still blue. I haven't decided on the exact shade that will work with everything, but I'm definitely planning on painting in there VERY soon. The bedding is by Target, and it's called "Pebble". The pillows are a mix of ones I already had, and a few picked up on sale at Target and Pier One. I found some cute prints at Quiltworks that I may pick up to make some better ones soon. The chair in the corner says Pottery Barn on it, but we inherited it from Tim's sister. My favorite part of the room is the cheapie little painting we bought on the left bank of the Seine in Paris. I had it framed at Michael's last year and I love the bright splash of color it brings.
Here are some pics of the room so far:
